January 20, 2006 -- Two city paramedics called up for military service in Iraq will be promoted to FDNY lieutenants today, but only after one of them went to the feds complaining they were passed over because they were overseas.
Patricia Foley, still working in a medical unit west of Baghdad, and Michael Glenn, who served six months north of the Iraqi capital, will finally get their silver bars after the U.S. Labor Department determined the FDNY was in violation of federal regulations.
Glenn's frustrating saga began last June 29, when the father of six returned from Iraq and checked in with his Manhattan EMS station. He was told that while he was away, he missed the deadline to accept the promotion.
It was a huge letdown for the 11-year EMS veteran, but his disappointment quickly turned to anger when he read about firefighter Gregg Magi, who was promoted to lieutenant while on an Iraqi battlefield on Aug. 18.
After Glenn complained to the Labor Department, the FDNY relented and is finally promoting him and Foley.
Foley will be sworn in this morning via satellite from the combat-support hospital where she is stationed.

Wow, It has been awhile, but I'm back up and running now. After some computer issues and moving issues. I have since moved from Upper Darby to Chichester. The move was great except for the fine assholes at Comcast that inform me on the day before our move that my install and transfer has been cancelled. They cited and returned check was the culprit for this, which I found puzzling since I have never writen them a check at all. So do to there screw up, I went with out cable for almost a week. After it was all said and done, the asshole decided to humor me by tellingme for all of my troubles they would credit my account $20.00. Whooptie fucking due!!!. So now all is well and I'm settling in to our new apt.

Well...Wing fans we have something to cheer about after the departure of Dallas. The Wings opened up the 2005-6 season with a win over the Colorado Mammoth. The Wings were led by rookie Sean Greenhalgh. Sean had seven points in the game with 4 goals and 3 assist. The Wings looked a little shaky, but pulled it out in the end. "Lets Go Wings"

NEW YORK (Dec. 27) - Michael Vale, the actor best known for his portrayal of a sleepy-eyed Dunkin' Donuts baker who said "Time to make the doughnuts," has died. He was 83.
Vale died Saturday in New York City of complications from diabetes, according to son-in law Rick Reil.
Vale's long-running character, "Fred the Baker," for the doughnut maker's ad campaign lasted 15 years until he retired in 1997.
Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin' Donuts said in a statement that Vale's character "became a beloved American icon that permeated our culture and touched millions with his sense of humor and humble nature."
Vale was born in Brooklyn and studied acting at the Dramatic Workshop in New York City with classmates Tony Curtis, Ben Gazzara and Rod Steiger.
A veteran of the Broadway stage, film and television, Vale appeared in more than 1,300 TV commercials.

Well, yet again Philadelphia is losing a true Philadelphia icon. In a trade today requested by Dallas,so he could be closer to his family. The Wings traded Dallas Eliuk to Portland. Dallas has been with the Wings for 15 yrs making him the longest tenured professional athlete in Philadelphia sports history. Well wished go out to Dallas and look forward to seeing you Feb 18 when the Wings take on the Lumberjacks.

I arrived back in town earlier this week with a empty bag from hunting. I did make friends with a chipmunk I named Alvin ( i know its original right!) LOL. I did see a black bear in the woods which was awesome. I'll be returning to the woods in early May for some spring turkey.

Well, seems since there is a new GM in town things are already beginning on a great note. Today the Phillies annouced they plan to trade Jim Thome to the White Sox for CF Aaron Rowand. Jim will surely be missed, but I think its best for the team. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Jim in the past and wish him well in the future. If he could stay healthy I'm sure he will give that little bitch A-Rod a run for the homerun title in the AL. So farewell Mr Thome...and welcome to the city Mr Rowand.

Way to go Penn State!!! The latest BCS standing were release earlier today and the Lions are now ranked 3ed. A loss by either USC or Texas believe it or not a team in Pennsylvania may actually be playing for a national championship. (with a chance of winning). The Lions with the win over Michigan State on Sat. wrapped up the Big Ten Championship. Alan Zemaitis was also named defensive player of the week.

Firefighters had a hard time reaching some of fire by hand due to two feet of water and mud in this area. While pumping at this alarm down by the Hooker Lake boat launch, Trevor Fire Department Engine 6411 jumped out of pump, drove over the wheel chocks and into Hooker Lake.
The engineer was OK after the engine came to a stop, with the cab under water. Most equipment that could be salvaged was before additional water damage.
A tow truck from Jensen Yowing had to be called in to pull the engine from the water.
No injuries were reported from the accident or fire, both of which are under investigation.

On Sunday morning the world of sports entertainment lost a true icon to the sport. Eddie Guerrero passed away at the age of 38. Eddie is leaving behind a wife and 3 young girls. Eddie was well liked in his industry and will be surely missed. No apparent cause of death was yet known, only that foul play and suicide have been ruled out.

The two people above are absolutely insane. The apology letter that T.O. read today was so pitiful, I almost wanted to feel sorry for him. I hope after hearing this the Eagles organization holds true and he does not play another game in Philadelphia again. I also hope that enough people in the league have enough common sense not to sign this guy, He is going to be a problem no matter where he goes.

For once in my life I'm supporting the Eagles decision to suspend T.O. I think it was a great move. He has continually berated his teammates and coaches. If he feels he can play better with Brett Favre see ya, pack your shit and head to cheeseland. Only problem with that is I don't think they have a cheesehead beg enough for his head. Well again props to the Eagles...now maybe they will help themselves and bench the QB that can't throw the ball. By the way did they forget they have one of the best RB in the league...Give Westbrook the ball and they might have a chance to make the playoffs. Oh well thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

New Diet

I started a diet (or better yet) a new eating habit, in that I'm not eating what I used to eat. I'm happy to say I'm down 4 lbs since Monday. Though specifics aren't availble I believe this to be better for the Phils in the long run. This will inprove the potential pitching prospects, they may actually want to pitch here. Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in Fairmont Park when one is suddenly attacked by a rabid pit bull. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his stick and shoves it under the dogs collar, twists it breaking the dog's neck and saving his friend.
A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident.
"Eagles Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook.

How stupid are they for one to allow a child to take a potentially dangerous snake to school, and second to allow the school to actually allow him to show it. I'm also disturbed that it took 45 minutes to get this child medically treatment. What the %@*&!!!

POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Police said a Pennsylvania girl might lose her arm after being bitten by a poisonous snake at school.
The local police chief said the 14-year-old could have died if she hadn't gotten quick medical treatment. The teen, who had been in very serious condition, is still undergoing treatment.
Authorities said a male student who caught a copperhead snake brought it to school in a shoebox on Friday. They said the boy was showing the reptile to students when it bit the girl's finger.
The girl apparently threw the snake across the room and the boy tossed it outside. The copperhead hasn't been found, but authorities were able to identify it from a picture taken with the boy's cell-phone camera.
No charges have been filed, but police said an investigation in under way.

Well, I sit here in dispare. The Cowboys alwaysfind someway to screw-up. Well today they lost and went right to the celler. The good thing is that the rest of the NFC East sucks too. I was working the Eagles game today and all of us are in agreement they should have lost that game. Their own announcer even said they escaped another one. Personally I'm waiting for the game on the 14th of November when the Eagles play the Boy's on Monday night, I will be at the game when the Boy's prove that the first game was not a fluke. Their Toyota Indy 400 runs ended in a crash Sunday, but the action between Danica Patrick and Jaques Lazier didn't end on the track.

Afterward, fingers were pointing and poking ... and maybe even punching. And before this one's over, IndyCar promises to have a hand in it.
Patrick, who spent most of the day hovering near the back of the top 10, saw her rookie-of-the-year season end in a jarring crash with Lazier that brought out the fourth and final caution flag just 16 laps from the end of the 200-lap event.
"The first person I saw after the accident was Jaques and that wasn't a good thing," Patrick told the Long Beach Press-Telegram. "I confronted him. I told him how I felt. I was mad at him."

Once the two drivers were in the rescue vehicle after the crash, Lazier initially said that Patrick punched him in the head. Lazier later recanted, going along with Patrick's explanation of a poke to the forehead.
Brent Maurer, a spokesman for Patrick's Rahal Letterman Racing team, said the driver told him she tapped Lazier on the forehead with two fingers and said, "You've got to use this."
"Look, we had a difference of opinion about what happened, and we were both emotional," Lazier told the Indianapolis Star on Sunday evening. "If she said she hit me on the temple with her fingers, that's fine. It doesn't matter."
"My son hits harder than she does," Lazier, whose son Kayden is 4, told the Press-Telegram.
An IndyCar spokesman promised an investigation.
"There are two sides to every story," IndyCar spokesman John Griffin told the Press-Telegram. "We will investigate."
Patrick reportedly was appalled by the accusation of a punch. She claimed she was telling him to use his head.

"So you're telling me that Jaques is saying he got beat up by a girl?" Patrick told the Star through a Rahal Letterman Racing spokesperson.
Dr. Kevin Scheid was driving the rescue vehicle and told the two drivers to settle down. But he would not settle the punch/poke debate.
"I'm not going to break that tie," he told the Star, laughing.
Patrick, who came away from the crash with a sore left elbow, and Lazier, who was not injured, came together and both spun and slammed hard into the wall. Each blamed the other for the crash that set up the dramatic finish.
"That's not the way I wanted to finish my season," Patrick said. "I was on my radio all day about him. He was all over the track even when he was running by himself. No wonder he jumps around from team to team. Needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated."
Lazier said Patrick was the one at fault for continually pinching his car down in the corners.
"She didn't want to give me any room," Lazier said.
Running a pink paint scheme in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness didn't change Target/Ganassi Racing's luck because Lazier's crash was unofficially the 28th of the season for the team. Steve Chassey, an insurance executive who raced Indy cars in the 1970s and '80s, estimated Ganassi's crash damage tab for the season is higher than for the entire Champ Car World Series field.

Hello All,

Well I'm back from NC. I wish it was for a vacation, but neverless it was a good trip. I visited the Blue Ridge Mts for the first time. Took a trip on the Skyline Drive...we drove 60 of the 105 miles of the drive. I would also give props to the auto industry. I drove a 2006 GMC Envoy it is a great SUV and was even great on gas considering this day in age. Also a very confortable ride and ver spacious. Oh well gotta go to bed, talk to ya soon.

Man Arrested for Setting Estranged Wife on Fire Updated: Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 - 5:17 AM
CLINTON, Md. - A Prince George's County man faces attempted murder and assault charges for allegedly setting his estranged wife on fire inside the mobile phone store where she worked.
Police say they arrested Roger Byron Hargrave, 33, at 11:15 p.m. Monday in the 6,000 block of District Heights Parkway.
Police say Hargrave walked into the T-Mobile store in Clinton about 10 a.m. Monday, doused his wife with gasoline and lit her clothing on fire as she ran outside. Somebody at the store helped put out the fire.
"The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious condition with third-degree burns over 50 percent of her body," says Cpl. Kim Brown, spokesperson for the Prince George's County Police.
She was hospitalized in serious condition Monday night.
"The suspect went inside with the intent of hurting her," said Cpl. Diane Richardson, another police spokesperson. "He didn't care whether or not anybody witnessed this. He had no regard for anybody else who was in the store."
Before Hargrave's arrest, the victim's sister, Shareen Jackson, said Hargrave is unstable.
"He's not in the right frame of mind. He should not be approached. He's a dangerous man," Jackson said

I work for a private ambulance service,and today while I'm on duty I realized life is just so short and unfair. I transported a young gentleman who has cancer. The guy had everything going for him in life, great house, wonderful wife and blam Dr. say's you have Cancer. It sucks. It sucks that this disease hits good people, but leave's the @$$holes of this world alone.

Today at 4:15...The Dallas Cowboys will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm a huge Cowboys fan having family from the Dallas area. I was happy to see them bring in a younger veteran QB in Drew Bledsoe...I could not stand Vinny Testerverde(anyone know a good nursing home).
I'm very interested to see how the young running back Julius Jones does against one of the best defenses in the league. Yes I just gave the Eagles a compliment. It should prove tobe a very good game, I believe if the Cowboy's can contain the run...and keep the ball out of T.O.'s hands the Boy's may have a chance. Only time will tell.
